Thank you! I'm smiling about your first car. Most people have a fond memory of their first car. Mine was a Pinto Squire. I was looking at 2 for the same money, & I listened to my dad and bought the Squire with the automatic transmission. I should have bought the plain one with the standard. I got so tired of jamming my foot down to pass and other than more noise - nothing happened.
I have one Stude shot that I'm proud of. [link] It only took me a month to find out what model it was.
Oh I loved my first car. All except for the fact that it was a hand me down from my sister. Not to mention that she had wrecked it, so when I got it, it was like 5 different colors. The thing was so slow I could have run up the hill faster than the car on foot. Seriously though I finally fell in love with it. I had it painted the most beautiful burgundy. I had it all the way through high school and for a couple of years later. But I flipped it in a U-turn curve going 35 MPH. (Don't ask, it just happened.) Now I miss it. Out of the insurance money I bought a 76 Datsun 280Z. I loved that car when it wasn't broken down. Now that I have a family, I have a family car.
Oh I love your photo. I still don't know exactly what years my Studebaker photos are. I can't find anything like them online. Oh well.
The best source... Ok, maybe not the best, but I often use Wikipedia to get facts quickly. There are good articles on Studes there. Champion [link] or the whole company history [link]
They've got a long fascinating history.
I love old cars and I thinks that the Studebaker is one of my favorites, well other than a 66 Mustang. (the first car I ever had)
