Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Does anyone know....

Okay so after my last journal. My computer still has some bug. I have run every kind of spywear and virus scan I can think of on it (lets see Avast, AVG, Spybot, Ad-Aware SE Personal, um.. and a few others, but I had to remove the AVG program becuase it messed with my virtual memory). Well the popups are not so bad now, I still get one or two everyonce in a while. But when ever I run spybot (and I mean I can run it like 20 times in a row w/out getting online), I keep getting a message saying that it has found DoubleClick, and Smithfraud-C.toolbar 88. What in the world are these things, and why do they come up everytime I run spybot? Plus are they bad, do I need to worry about them? This is why I had taken so long to put my computer ont the net.

Anyway on to better news. Maybe. I have put up lots of new photos. My son only has two days left of kindergarten. And we will have the summer off. Yay...........

In a couple of weeks we are going to head up to my parents in VA so I will not be online much, if any. But I will take my camera, and take a lot of photos. The last two years we have gone up in the mountains, this year, I don't know where we are going for vacation. But since my mother is doing a lot better she wants to go somewhere different.

Well gotta go.

You know I tried to do that, but my computer will not let me set it to an earlier date. The only date it will let me set it to, is when all of this stuff started happening.
