Happy Memorial Day

Journal Entry: Sat May 26, 2007, 11:51 PM
:D :D Yay, a long weekend. Well at least for my son, and I.

I just found out that my son passed kindergarten. Okay, so I was really worried. He did not go to pre-school, and so he was a little behind everyone else. But I had a meeting with his teacher on Friday and she said in the last two months he really did a wonderful job. He is at 100% of everything. The last meeting I had with her she had said that she was thinking of holding him back. Oh man I was pissed. He is a smart boy, but to hold a child back in kindergarten because he did not go to pre-school. That is awful. But my little man did it. He pulled his grades up and showed that teacher. :D :D I am so proud.

Well, I usually love just about all horror movies, but I just watched the remake of the Hitcher. And I was really dissapointed. Sean Bean is a good actor, but he just could not replace Rutger Hauer. I really thought the movie sucked. I always watch the remakes and sometimes I like them, never better than the original. But I can say, I did not like this one. I also watched Letters From Iwo Jima, and I don't usually like that kind of movie, but it was really good. Okay so I am a Arashi fan and I got it because it had Nino in it, and plus my son loves war movies. He is 6 and he wants to be a Army man. I know all little boys want to be army men, but my son is really serious about it. My dad was in the Navy, my hubby was in the Army, and my hubbys nephew is in the Army now. (In fact he is over in Iraq right now, in battle.) My son just admires all three of them because they served in the military. He even wants to go to military school. And he is 6 years old. :D (Wow I just went way off of subject.) Anyway Letters is a really good movie. The Hitcher remake sucked.

I am feeling a little better. I don't think the medicine is working all that well though. I am still staying really tired. Of course that can be coming from the anemia and the hypothyroidism. But all of my other tests seem to be fine. I do have a couple of other appointments for more tests, and I may have to have surgery. God I hope not. But I am staying optimistic. :D :D

Well I am going to get off here, drink some more of my Plum Wine, and watch another horror movie. Everyone is asleep in my house so I have some time to myself.

Love ya,

Congrats on you little one passing Kindergarten. My son had a hard time in school until they figured out his tonsils had closed off his eardrums so he couldn't hear. Sheesh! Keep on those teachers!
Sounds like you are having a bit of a balance problem with your thyroid. They do a biopsy on my thyroid every year due to lumps/cysts. They have decided this year to possibly remove it, just waiting for the results of my latest blood work! Oh what FUN!!  Don't worry, it is called a "practice" after all! :D :D :D It really can be an easy fix, I promise!  If you need anyone to talk to about it, I'm here! :blowkiss:

Thank you, :giggle: my son just has a hard of listening problem. He wants to do things his way, but when I told him that all of his friends would be going to 1st grade without him. He did a lot better. I tell you, you have to watch out for these teachers these days. My nephew was going to be held back not because of his grades, he is a straight A student, but because the teacher said that he was not mature enough. Hello he was only 9 years old. My sister had problems out of her the whole year. In fact the teacher, which is against the law, tried to make my sis put him on medication. I guess they want the students to all be zombies in their classes.

Yeah, I think I have been having a problem with it for a while, but I just got brave enough to go to the doc. They have me on meds to regulate my thyroid, but they dont seem to be working yet, and iron for my anemia. So back to the doc in a couple of weeks for that. Then to another doctor for other problems. I hate getting old, after you get older your body goes all to heck. :D

I tell you surjery is no fun. I hope everything works out for you. Thank you, same here. I am always a good listener. :glomp:

My parents were in the teaching field so I was ahead of their game. The biggest problem is the class sizes. Teachers have sometimes 40 students in a classroom, that is insane! I found a charter school that promised 15 students per teacher, I jumped on it. They used computers for all homework and classes, it was GREAT! He had no extra homework it was all done at school. They worked on their own which was difficult, but with help from the teachers (they took a fancy to him  ) he graduted ahead of his class with honors! This was all in High School but until then I had to fight to keep him in school because he hated it, he had hours of homework, they truly set him up to fail, imho. If I hadn't found that charter school he may have never made it through those last years.
It always takes time to figure out medication for the thyroid, and yes the older we get the harder life seems, but life does get better... the medications get weirde sometimes, but if you can start a regimen of fiber (yes I know I'm old when they say I need more fiber), vegetables, chicken and fish (but watch the iodine levels, that causes your thyroid to either over/under work YIKES ) Man my doctor has me wrapped around his little finger, with all these meds  He has said that I am improving as long as I keep up the walking... I walk as quickly as I can whenever I am up and about. Running after kids help!
I'll take surgery anyday, the biopsy and thyroid uptake x-ray is the pits!!! :unimpressed:

Wow, 40 to a class. From where I am from you are lucky to have 15 people to a class. In fact they just last year closed about 3 of our high schools, because there are not enough students. (Well that is where I used to live, I do not know how the classes are here. My sons kindergarten class had 20 kids I think.) I have been checking into maybe getting him into a Magnet school. I think he would enjoy that better, and the teachers are supposed to work with the kids better. :D

Yeah, I have to lose weight. But I am just too tired to do any exercise. I have lost 15 pounds in the last month, but I think that is just because I really dont even feel like eating. :) But you know I can deal with that, not eating, but I want to start walking and getting more exercise. I hope that they can get the meds working soon, because I am not a lazy person, I like to get out and do things. Maybe soon.

Only 20 students? Sheesh They should have had plenty of time to help each student! Maybe the magnet school would be better! we had a lot different problem... glad you have an option though!

You are not lazy, especially when you have a big first grader! :D :D I bet chasing him is the best kind of exercise! :D There are "diets" out there that say you should eat small meals 6 or 7 times a day... I tried that, just couldn't keep it up. I'm sure if I'd been successful at eating that many times, I'd be bigger than a house! All that really does is stimulate your metabolism, but if that is messed up from your thyroid, well that is like throwing wood on the flames instead of water. So I think you are doing it right when you eat very little, at least until they figure things out...
